A message from alumnus Gavin Redgment (Class of ’76)
In the many years since John Orr first opened its doors, there is no doubt that thousands of learners have come through the gates, sat in the classrooms and run on the fields. I myself was a student here in the early 70’s and matriculated in 1976.
The aim of any Alumni Club is to foster a sense of community: help former students stay connected with their alma mater and with each other, provide networking opportunities for former students and encourage a sense of belonging and pride in their school.
As a consultant to and subsequent education ambassador for the Bloodhound Land Speed Record Project for many years https://www.bloodhoundlsr.com/ I am proud to use my expertise to give back to the school through my work as a facilitator with The Sustainability Campus where we teach students about the possibilities around solar and EV technology.
Although John Orr has gone through many changes, as a designated School of Specialisation, it now stands poised to make a real difference in the futures of its learners and the province as a whole. I would therefore like to encourage all past pupils to get in touch and see how they can assist the school and its current crop of learners by offering professional advice, mentorship, or job opportunities.
Kind regards,
Gavin
